About the work
This series captures quiet, candid moments of everyday life in and around Mwanza, Tanzania, photographed from a minibus while travelling with the Bridge2Aid team
Passing through villages and open fields, I captured people in the flow of their day, working, walking, or pausing just long enough to notice the camera. Occasionally, a smile was returned, creating a brief but meaningful connection between us
These unplanned exchanges reflect the idea of The Smile Within as something simple and deeply human, a shared moment of recognition that holds warmth, resilience and connection beyond words
One can imagine the mindfulness of the work going on in the fields, or perhaps the sense that this quiet landscape holds something the person is searching for
It’s a beautiful view to fall into and reflect on, and would look well-placed in any dental reception or treatment room
The artist
Georgios Giazitzis
Greek-born photographer and videographer based in the UK, working as Social Media Manager for Henry Schein Dental UK. Drawn to the authenticity of everyday life, his practice centres on meaningful connection — to people, places, and the subtle moments that frequently escape attention. The Smile Within is his inaugural art exhibition.
