About the work

The image of a river, glistening in the golden light of the setting sun, as it meanders through a lush valley, depicts what we see when a river makes a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland, bringing life and wellbeing to all that is planted close to the river. Isaiah 43v19.

The artist

Karen Paterson

Retired dentist, photographer and community leader whose artistic practice weaves together faith, service and wellbeing. Past President of the Christian Dental Fellowship. Photography began as an escape from the pressures of practice and has evolved into a meaningful way to share beauty, hope and perspective. Over a decade ago she began printing photographs as greeting cards to raise charitable funds — a practice that continues today.
