About the work

Taken just off the coast of DAR from a very queasy catamaran ferry. The simplicity of wood and sail seemed much better to navigate the choppy waters of life

Artist statement

Living with ADHD means you are constantly scanning for stimulation, the next dopamine hit. The camera helps to capture the moment we all pass by — but it is more than that. It is the time where my over-active mind becomes quiet. I am just an ordinary person who has found himself in the most extraordinary places, and I am thankful to the profession and Bridge2Aid for the opportunities.

The artist

Nigel Mallon

Nigel first picked up a camera after qualifying as an RN dentist sent to the Far East and Middle East. His clinical, peripatetic experience took him to Latin America and East Africa with USA dental charities, leading inevitably to volunteering with Bridge2Aid. He has always had a camera by his side.
