About the work
I first picked up a camera after qualifying as a RN dentist sent to the Far East and Middle East. Subsequently my clinical peripatetic experience developed working with USA dental charities in Latin America and East Africa which inevitably lead to volunteering with B2A. I always had a camera by my side. In practice we always encouraged all staff in pro bono work and charitable help for the community , city and continents
How the smallest actions can unknowingly have the bigger effect. (Note: Butterfly was rescued from waters surface tension and flew away!).
Artist statement
Living with ADHD means you are constantly scanning for stimulation, the next dopamine hit. The camera helps to capture the moment we all pass by — but it is more than that. It is the time where my over-active mind becomes quiet. I am just an ordinary person who has found himself in the most extraordinary places, and I am thankful to the profession and Bridge2Aid for the opportunities.

Skimming the Surface (Tanzania)
30 × 45 × 1 cm · Foam-board, unframed
from £30
Taken just off the coast of DAR from a very queasy catamaran ferry. The simplicity of wood and sail seemed much better to navigate the choppy waters of life

Original photograph
Resilience (Burundi)

from £30
A young lad from the Education and Family project YADA takes me to the to the edge of the city dump where he lives

Original photograph
The Eye of the Little Man (Cameroon)
30 × 45 × 1 cm · Acrylic, unframed
from £50
Cameroon kids are watching our health care clinic. The image captures the reflection in the eye of hands hanging on the wire fence separating our two worlds

Original photograph
Surreal Sunflowers (Ukraine)
30 × 60 × 1 cm · Acrylic, unframed
from £75
Last year I spent 10 days of photo journalism and doing training in trauma therapy for military chaplains in the Ukraine. Sunrise and sunset I would stand in the sunflower fields behind our hotel to breath in and breath out. Mid week two tomahawk missiles would land 26km away. Surreal yet so real!

Original photograph
Umbrella (Burundi)
45 × 60 × 1 cm · Acrylic, unframed
from £100
I took a break from the full on temporary dental clinic in Makamba, Burundi and wearily walked around the patient lines of waiting people. This arresting smile and image just shows that you have to be expectant for joy in the most random or difficult places
